Frequently Asked Questions

How long do full dentures last?
With proper daily care, full dentures typically last 5 to 7 years. Because your gums and jawbone naturally change shape, relines every 2-3 years maintain optimal fit.
Will I be able to eat normally with new full dentures?
Yes! There is an initial 2 to 4 week adjustment period. Starting with soft foods helps your tongue and cheek muscles adapt to controlling the new dentures.
How much do full dentures cost in Oak Park?
A single upper or lower full denture ranges from A$1,300 to A$2,200. Complete upper and lower sets range from A$2,600 to A$4,000. VDS vouchers cover 100% of costs for eligible cardholders.
Will my full dentures look natural?
Yes. We carefully customize tooth shade, shape, translucency, and gum shading to complement your facial features and natural smile.
How long does it take to make full dentures?
Thanks to our on-site dental laboratory, full dentures are completed in 2 to 3 weeks across 4 to 5 precise fitting appointments.
Will full dentures slip or loosen?
A well-fitted upper full denture creates strong natural suction against the palate. Lower dentures rely on muscle control; implant locators can be added for maximum stability.
Should I take full dentures out at night?
Yes. Removing dentures overnight allows your oral tissues to rest, prevents fungal stomatitis, and maintains healthy gums.
Can I get full dentures placed immediately after tooth extraction?
Yes! Immediate full dentures are pre-fabricated in our lab and inserted right after extractions so you never spend a day without teeth.
Are full dentures covered by the Victorian Denture Scheme (VDS)?
Yes! Eligible concession cardholders receive 100% covered full dentures under VDS vouchers with zero out-of-pocket costs.
What is the difference between full dentures and implant-retained dentures?
Traditional full dentures rest directly on gums. Implant-retained dentures snap onto 2-4 dental implants for unshakeable stability.

Our Services Full Dentures

Full dentures were once the bread and butter of the dental industry.

These days dentists strive to keep as many healthy natural teeth as possible. As Dental Prosthetists we find ourselves making as many or more partial dentures than ever before.

None the less, I would suggest that complete upper and lower (maxillary and mandibular) denture s are the mainstay of our work.  Upper dentures are usually the easiest to make. The upper jaw is static and the palate tends to provide suction. The lower jaw however affords less suction due to the tongue sticking up through the middle and is influenced by the movement of the muscles of facial expression and mastication.

Lower dentures therefore have much less suction and will often be less stable. I can’t stress enough the importance of being treated by a practitioner that has a proven record of experience and skill.

The success of full dentures relies on many factors.

  • Your ability to adapt and control the dentures.
  • Physiological factors such as the health of the supporting oral tissues or even the consistency of your saliva.
  • My skill as a prosthetist and technician. My ability to assess what you want and need, to take accurate impressions and my ability to judge and to record an accurate bite.
  • last but not least -
  • The art of reproducing a natural aesthetic appearance to afford you the confidence to eat, talk and smile with complete confidence.
